Early 2011 Macbook Pro sluggish running Monterey

I own an early-2011 13" Macbook Pro with the 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor.
It runs on an SSD drive and I've upgraded it to a 16GB RAM.

I mostly wanted to run a version of Logic with the live loops module (10.5) but I was equally annoyed that even every-day apps wouldn't run on it due to it running High Sierra, so I installed Monterey with OpenCore. I've noticed that even for basic tasks, it's noticeably slower. Yesterday it struggled to play a Youtube video with the browser being the only app running, the fan working the whole time I used the laptop.

Logic has its issues as well, but I was expecting that, with it being a more strenuous app.

Has anyone run a combination of OS and Logic that runs decently in a machine that old?

Is there anything I can do to get it to work more smoothly?
