Troubleshooting Crashes on MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1

Guide:

  1. Check for System Updates: Ensure that your MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1 is up to date by going to System Preferences > Software Update. Install any available updates and patches that may address stability issues.

  2. Compatibility with OCLP: As you mentioned, OCLP may only officially support up to MacOS 14.2. While it's possible to run newer versions, compatibility issues may arise. Consider reverting to MacOS 14.2 or exploring alternative methods for installing Sonoma 14.3.1.

  3. Update Applications: Make sure all affected applications, such as Webcatalog apps and Dolphin emulator, are updated to their latest versions. Developers often release updates to address compatibility issues and improve stability.

  4. Reset Applications: Try resetting the affected applications to their default settings. This can often resolve issues caused by corrupted preferences or settings. Look for options within each application to reset preferences or reinstall them if necessary.

  5. Check for Software Conflicts: Identify any recently installed applications or updates that may be conflicting with the affected apps. Try temporarily disabling or uninstalling these applications to see if it resolves the crashes.

  6. Run Disk Utility: Use Disk Utility to check for and repair any disk errors or permissions issues that may be contributing to the crashes. Open Disk Utility, select your disk, and click on "First Aid" to run diagnostics and repair any issues.

  7. Safe Mode: Boot your iMac into Safe Mode by restarting and holding down the Shift key until you see the Apple logo. Safe Mode can help identify and resolve software conflicts or issues with startup items that may be causing crashes.

  8. Hardware Diagnostics: Run hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware issues that may be contributing to the crashes. Restart your iMac and hold down the D key during startup to access Apple Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to run diagnostics.

  9. Contact Support: If the crashes persist, consider reaching out to the developers of the affected applications for support. They may be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or updates to address the crashes on Sonoma 14.3.1.

By following these steps, you can troubleshoot and resolve crashes on your Late 2013 27" iMac running MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1.

Crashes on multiple apps...

All of the Webcatalog apps show this upon quitting:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000 Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 4 Illegal instruction: 4 Terminating Process: exc handler [1415]

And Dolphin emulator crashes when opened, showing this:

Crashed Thread: 16 Emuthread - Starting Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000 Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 4 Illegal instruction: 4 Terminating Process: exc handler [1476]

I am on an Late 2013 27" iMac, running MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1, installed as per the instructions on this page. However, I've read that OCLP only supports up to 14.2.
