Guide:
If you're encountering an issue where your Ventura installation gets stuck on "[EB|LOG:EXITBS:START]," there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue and successfully install Ventura on your system.
1. Verify BIOS Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS settings are correctly configured for Hackintosh compatibility. Common settings include disabling Secure Boot, setting SATA mode to AHCI, and enabling XHCI Handoff. Refer to your motherboard's manual for specific instructions.
2. Check OpenCore Configuration:
- Review your OpenCore configuration (config.plist) to ensure it's correctly configured for your hardware. Pay attention to settings related to ACPI, Kernel, and DeviceProperties. You may need specific SSDTs and device property injections for your components.
3. Update OpenCore Version:
- Make sure you're using the latest version of OpenCore compatible with macOS Ventura. Newer versions often include bug fixes and improvements that may resolve installation issues.
4. Use Proper Kexts:
- Ensure that you have the necessary kexts (kernel extensions) for your hardware, such as Lilu.kext, WhateverGreen.kext, and VirtualSMC.kext. Additionally, verify that you're using the correct Ethernet and Wi-Fi kexts for your network card.
5. Check USB Installer:
- Verify the integrity of your macOS Ventura USB installer. Try recreating the installer using a different USB drive and ensure it's properly formatted as GUID Partition Map with macOS Extended (Journaled) filesystem.
6. Boot Flags and Boot Args:
- Experiment with different boot flags and boot arguments in your OpenCore configuration. Common ones to try include "-v" for verbose mode, "-x" for safe mode, and "npci=0x2000" or "npci=0x3000" for PCI configuration issues.
7. Update Firmware and Drivers:
- Ensure that your motherboard's firmware (BIOS/UEFI) is up to date. Additionally, update your GPU drivers to the latest version compatible with macOS Ventura.
8. Debugging and Logs:
- Enable verbose mode ("-v" boot flag) to see detailed logs during the boot process. Analyze the logs to identify any specific errors or warnings that may indicate the cause of the installation failure.
9. Troubleshoot Hardware:
- If the issue persists, consider troubleshooting individual hardware components such as GPU, CPU, RAM, and storage. Test each component separately or try using different hardware if possible.
10. Seek Community Support:
- If you're still unable to resolve the issue, seek assistance from online forums, Hackintosh communities, or Discord channels dedicated to Hackintosh troubleshooting. Experienced users may provide valuable insights and assistance.
By following these steps and troubleshooting methods, you should be able to address the Ventura installation issue and successfully install macOS Ventura on your Gigabyte Z490 Vision D system.
