Hi everyone, this is more of a potential Hackintosh retirement post, but hopefully still allowed!
My 8086k Designare z390 Hackinstosh has been a trusty steed for around 5 years now. But with Sonoma showing some signs of incompatibilities (at least on release - I’m not keeping fully up to date these days) and now with relatively affordable power available via Apple Silicone, I’m considering switching my main desktop back to Apple. Here, however, is the problem… audio production is my main use and I have dozens of peripherals that I’d need to connect to either a Mac Mini or docked MacBook Pro. Plenty of space/connectivity for them in a PC tower with an Intel based setup, however I need an alternative if I go back to mac. There are my requirements:
*About 10 USB devices (easily done via a USB hub) *5 system disks (system, audio, samples, storage, Time Machine) - I can probably do away with some of these given disk speeds these days *2 x 4K monitors via HDMI or DP *A PCIe slot for a UAD card (this one seems to be the kicker) *TB for UAD Apollos
Is anyone aware of an all in one solution to this? Or am I best off buying a decent TB hub, then daisy chaining in another TB disk enclosure and a TB PCIe enclosure? The costs of all these seem to add up quite quickly!
Thanks 👍🏼
