Fixing Slow Wi-Fi Issue on Hackintosh T480 Running Ventura

Guide:

If you're experiencing slow Wi-Fi speeds on your Hackintosh T480 running Ventura, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Wi-Fi Card Compatibility:

  • Verify that the Wi-Fi card in your T480 is compatible with macOS Ventura. Certain Wi-Fi cards may require additional drivers or patches to function optimally.

2. Update Wi-Fi Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest Wi-Fi drivers installed for your Intel Wi-Fi card. You can try updating the drivers or using alternate drivers to see if it improves performance.

3. Adjust Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Access your Wi-Fi settings and adjust parameters such as channel width, frequency band, and roaming aggressiveness to optimize performance. Experiment with different settings to find the best configuration for your network.

4. Disable Power Saving Features:

  • Disable any power-saving features on your Wi-Fi card that may be causing it to operate at lower speeds. This can often be done through device settings or third-party utilities.

5. Replace Wi-Fi Card (if necessary):

  • If you continue to experience slow Wi-Fi speeds despite troubleshooting, consider replacing the Wi-Fi card with a compatible model known to work well with macOS Ventura. Popular options include Broadcom and Qualcomm Atheros cards.

6. Consider External Wi-Fi Adapter:

  • As a temporary solution or workaround, you can also consider using an external USB Wi-Fi adapter known to be compatible with macOS Ventura. This can provide better performance while you troubleshoot the internal Wi-Fi card.

7. Further Troubleshooting:

  • If the issue persists, you may need to perform further troubleshooting steps such as examining system logs, checking for interference from other devices, or consulting online forums and communities for additional assistance.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the slow Wi-Fi issue on your Hackintosh T480 running Ventura.

T480 - Wifi Slow AF (But Not Always)

Just Hackintosh'd my T480 with Ventura - 32 gigs of RAM, 1TB NVME, 8250U. Basically everything works. However the Wifi is really strange. Running a test at SpeedTest.net I get 500-600mbps. Acts normal - but use Safari to go to a webpage or download Python ...40kb/s. What's happening here? Using the Intel Alpha drivers alleviates this somewhat. But not completely. I don't know off hand which WIFI card it comes with, but it's an intel and it's the stock one the T480's come with. AX210 maybe? Should I just pull it out and replace it with something else rather than trying to figure it out?

It's using 5ghz - so it's not that either.
