Fixing Saturated Sound Issue on MacBookPro11,4 Running Sonoma

Guide:

If you're experiencing saturated sound on your MacBookPro11,4 (15" mid 2015) running Sonoma, there are several steps you can take to address this issue. Follow these instructions to troubleshoot and fix the problem:

1. Update or Install AppleALC:

  • First, ensure that you have AppleALC.kext installed on your system. You can update it to the latest version or install it if you haven't already.

2. Configure AppleALC:

  • Navigate to your EFI partition and locate the config.plist file.
  • Open the config.plist file with a plist editor or a text editor capable of handling plist files.
  • Look for the section related to AppleALC configuration. This may be labeled under Kernel -> Add.
  • Ensure that the layout ID is set correctly for your audio codec. You may need to consult the AppleALC documentation or forums to find the appropriate layout ID for your specific hardware.

3. Check Audio Codec and Layout ID:

  • Identify the audio codec used in your MacBookPro11,4. You can find this information by checking your system specifications or using hardware monitoring tools.
  • Once you know the audio codec, find the corresponding layout ID supported by AppleALC for that codec. This information is usually available in the AppleALC documentation or online forums.

4. Adjust Volume and Equalizer Settings:

  • If the sound is still saturated after configuring AppleALC, try adjusting the volume and equalizer settings in your audio software or system preferences.
  • Lowering the volume or adjusting the equalizer to reduce bass and treble levels may help alleviate the saturation issue.

5. Test Different Audio Output Devices:

  • Test the sound using different audio output devices, such as headphones or external speakers, to determine if the saturation is specific to certain output channels.

6. Reboot and Test:

  • After making any configuration changes, reboot your MacBookPro11,4 and test the sound again to see if the saturation issue persists.

7. Seek Further Assistance:

  • If the issue persists after following these steps, consider seeking further assistance from the Hackintosh community forums or AppleALC support channels. Provide detailed information about your system specifications and the steps you've taken to troubleshoot the issue.

By following these steps and properly configuring AppleALC, you can address the saturated sound issue on your MacBookPro11,4 running Sonoma and enjoy improved audio quality.

Sound issue MacBookPro11,4 Sonoma

Hi, I've just installed Sonoma on a MacBookPro11,4 (15" mid 2015). All is fine, the sound works but is completely saturated. I've tried the opencore help page "Fixing audio with AppleALC" but it is all gibberish to me. What could I do to fix it?
