Guide:
Introduction:
Encountering a hang during the OpenCore boot process, specifically at apfs_module_start:2485: load: com.apple.filesystems.apfs
, can be challenging. This guide aims to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue for your Leader NUC Hackintosh setup.
Requirements:
- Leader NUC (Intel Core i5 6287u, 8GB DDR3, Realtek ALC269, Realtek PCIe GbE, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC3165)
- OpenCore EFI folder
- Basic knowledge of Hackintosh configuration
Step 1: Check and Update OpenCore Configuration:
- Review your OpenCore configuration in the config.plist file.
- Ensure that all necessary kexts, drivers, and ACPI patches are correctly configured.
- Confirm that your SMBIOS settings match your hardware specifications.
Step 2: Verify Missing SSDT:
- Confirm that the missing SSDT has been correctly added to your EFI folder.
- Ensure that the SSDT is properly generated and addresses any missing or incorrect ACPI information.
Step 3: Update Kexts:
- Check for updates to your kexts, especially those related to APFS.
- Consider updating your kexts to the latest versions to ensure compatibility.
Step 4: Test without WiFi Card:
- Temporarily remove the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC3165 card from your system.
- Check if the system boots without the WiFi card, as certain WiFi cards can cause compatibility issues during the boot process.
Step 5: Verify Realtek Ethernet Kext:
- Confirm that the Realtek PCIe GbE kext is present in your EFI folder.
- Check for updates to the kext and consider trying alternative versions.
Step 6: Debugging with Verbose Mode:
- Boot with the
-v
flag to enable verbose mode. - Review the verbose output for any additional error messages or points of failure.
Step 7: Check Realtek ALC269 Audio Kext:
- Verify that the Realtek ALC269 audio kext is present and properly configured in your EFI folder.
- Confirm that the layout-id in your config.plist matches the layout-id required for your audio codec.
Step 8: Community Support:
- Seek assistance on Hackintosh forums or communities.
- Share details about your OpenCore configuration, EFI folder, and the verbose output during boot.
Step 9: Test on External Drive:
- Install macOS on an external drive if possible.
- Test if the hang issue persists when booting from the external drive.
Step 10: Monitor System Logs:
- After a failed boot attempt, boot into macOS recovery or another macOS installation.
- Review system logs using the Console application for any relevant error messages.
Conclusion: Resolving the hang during the OpenCore boot process requires a systematic approach. By reviewing your configuration, checking for updates, and seeking community support, you can identify and address the root cause. Remember to document your steps and share your experiences with the Hackintosh community. Good luck with resolving the issue on your Leader NUC Hackintosh!
