Creating a Hackintosh on your ThinkPad X220 with High Sierra is a detailed process, but here is a concise guide to get you started:
GUIDE STEP BY STEP:
Verify Compatibility: Ensure that your ThinkPad X220 is compatible with macOS High Sierra. Your specs indicate compatibility.
Prepare BIOS Settings: Set your BIOS to 'Legacy Mode' since your laptop does not support UEFI-based boot USBs.
Create Bootable USB: Use a program such as BalenaEtcher to create a bootable USB drive with the High Sierra installer.
Download Necessary Kexts: Obtain necessary kexts for networking, audio, and graphics. Intel HD Graphics 3000 is supported in High Sierra, but make sure you have the right kexts.
Configure Clover Bootloader: Customize the Clover bootloader for your ThinkPad X220. This will involve configuring the
config.plist
file to match your hardware specifications.Install macOS High Sierra: Boot from the USB drive, format the installation drive using Disk Utility, and proceed with the installation.
Post-Installation Setup: After installation, boot into macOS and install the kexts you downloaded earlier using a tool like Kext Wizard. Also, run the Clover Configurator to mount the EFI partition and place your custom
config.plist
there.Finalize Installation: Ensure all your hardware is working correctly. You may need to tweak kexts or Clover configuration for full functionality.
Dual Boot Configuration: If you want to maintain a dual-boot system with Windows, use a partitioning tool to separate the hard drive and install macOS on one partition while keeping Windows on the other.
As for creating a config.plist
, it's hardware-specific. Use Clover Configurator to generate one that matches your ThinkPad's hardware profile. Unfortunately, without specific hardware details, I can't provide a config.plist
for you. However, the Clover Configurator tool is user-friendly and should guide you through the necessary steps.
Remember, Hackintosh communities are very resourceful, and following a detailed guide specifically for your ThinkPad X220 and High Sierra will be crucial for Success . Always back up your data before attempting such installations.
