Guide:
Introduction
If you're facing issues with your i9-10900k iGPU stuck at 7MB DRAM on macOS Ventura Hackintosh, it can be frustrating. In this guide, we'll explore steps to help you resolve this problem and get your integrated graphics working as intended.
Step 1: Confirm Hardware Compatibility
Ensure your hardware components are compatible with macOS Ventura. Check if your ASRock Z590 motherboard and i9-10900k processor are on Dortania's list of supported hardware.
Step 2: BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Access your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings during boot (usually by pressing a key like Del or F2).
- Confirm that you have set the iGPU as the primary graphics device in the BIOS settings.
- Disable any unnecessary settings like CSM (Compatibility Support Module), and make sure Secure Boot is turned off.
Step 3: Use the Right SMBios Profile
- Verify that your SMBios profile is set correctly. For an i9-10900k, you should use a profile like "iMac20,2."
Step 4: Ensure Proper Device Properties in OpenCore Config
- Open your OpenCore config.plist file.
- Under the "DeviceProperties" section, make sure you have the correct properties injected for the iGPU. Dortania's guides can help you find the appropriate values for your specific hardware.
Step 5: Framebuffer Patching
- To get your iGPU recognized correctly, you may need to perform framebuffer patching. Dortania's guide provides detailed instructions on how to do this. Make sure to follow it carefully.
Step 6: Boot-Args Configuration
- Remove the "-igfxvesa" boot-arg as it's forcing macOS to use the VESA driver instead of your iGPU.
- Boot without any additional arguments for troubleshooting purposes.
Step 7: Check for Kexts and Patches
- Ensure you have the necessary kexts like WhateverGreen and Lilu installed in your OpenCore EFI folder.
- Verify that you haven't accidentally added any conflicting kernel patches or kexts that might interfere with your iGPU.
Step 8: Update and Reboot
- Make sure you are using the latest version of macOS Ventura. Updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Reboot your system after making any configuration changes or updates.
Step 9: Seek Community Support
- If you're still experiencing issues after following these steps, consider seeking help from the Hackintosh community. Forums like InsanelyMac, Reddit's Hackintosh subreddit, or Dortania's Discord server can be valuable resources.
Conclusion
Resolving the issue of your i9-10900k iGPU being stuck at 7MB DRAM on your macOS Ventura Hackintosh requires attention to detail and patience. Make sure to follow the recommended settings, check compatibility, and perform necessary configurations outlined in this guide. With the right adjustments, you can achieve a functioning Hackintosh system with your iGPU working as expected.
Actually i have installed macOS Ventura, and i'm following Dartonia's guide about OpenCore version 0.9.7, my iGPU do not want to go over 7MB of DRAM.
I have read lot on reddit about this issue but nothing works for me.
Anusual thing is that the system boots only if i set "-igfxvesa" on boot-args.
The SMBios is set on "iMac20,2".
Now my macOS is working on a partition of 256GB of my HDD (don't worry i'll be able to change it with a 2TB NvME in few days).
I'm just cheking that all system will work when i change storage.
