I tried upgrading from El Capitan to Monterey only to be stuck in an endless loop of reinstalls

Help!

I have a 2008 iMac which i decided to install Monterey into it. All went well but it never actually get to reboot back into the system. It gets stuck on a white screen and whenever i boot into efi again, it only goes to install monterey screen. Is there a way to make the thing work again?
