Resolving "AvatarPickerMemojiPicker" and "MTLCompilerService" Error Messages on Hackintosh with Sonoma

Solution:

The error messages "AvatarPickerMemojiPicker has stopped working" and "MTLCompilerService has stopped working" on a Hackintosh running Sonoma indicate issues related to graphics or system services. Here are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these errors:

  1. Graphics Drivers and Kexts:

    • Ensure you have the correct graphics drivers and kexts installed for your system. Incorrect or outdated graphics kexts can cause issues with system services and applications.
    • If you're using an iGPU or a discrete GPU, make sure the kexts are appropriate for your specific hardware.
  2. Update System Kexts and Patches:

    • Keeping your system kexts and patches up-to-date is important. Outdated software can lead to compatibility issues and errors.
  3. System Integrity Protection (SIP):

    • Sometimes, disabling SIP can cause system services to malfunction. Consider enabling SIP if it's currently disabled, but be aware that this might affect other Hackintosh modifications.
  4. Rebuild Kext Cache:

    • Rebuilding the kext cache can sometimes resolve issues with system services. Boot with -v -f flags to rebuild the kext cache and observe the verbose output for any anomalies.
  5. Check for macOS Updates:

    • Installing the latest updates for Sonoma can resolve known bugs and improve system stability.
  6. Review Hackintosh Configuration:

    • Double-check your Hackintosh configuration, including the EFI folder, config.plist, and any custom SSDTs or DSDTs you might be using.
  7. Seek Community Help:

    • Post detailed information about your Hackintosh build and the issues you're experiencing on Hackintosh forums. The community might have specific solutions for these error messages.
  8. Backup Important Data:

    • Always ensure your important data is backed up before making significant changes to your system.

Visual Aids: Screenshots of the error messages, your Hackintosh configuration, and any steps you've taken can be helpful when seeking assistance from online communities.

Additional Note: Errors like "AvatarPickerMemojiPicker" and "MTLCompilerService" stopping can be challenging to resolve on a Hackintosh due to the complexity of macOS running on non-Apple hardware. Careful troubleshooting and sometimes a bit of trial and error are necessary.
