Target Audience: Beginner to Intermediate users familiar with macOS interface and basic troubleshooting.
Solution:
1. Verify Permissions: Ensure you have the correct permissions for the `~/Library/Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db` file.
2. Reset Dock: Open Terminal and execute `killall Dock` to reset the Dock.
3. Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode by holding the Shift key on startup, change the wallpaper, and then reboot.
4. Clear Cache: Delete cache files in `~/Library/Caches` to clear any stored wallpaper settings.
5. System Preferences: Check the 'Translucent menu bar' option in System Preferences is unchecked.
6. Third-Party Apps: Disable any third-party wallpaper applications that may override wallpaper settings.
7. Delete Corrupt Files: Remove `com.apple.desktop.plist` from `~/Library/Preferences` and restart your Mac.
8. Software Updates: Install any available updates for macOS Sonoma that might address wallpaper issues.
Creating a new user account can help determine if the problem is user-specific. Remember to backup your data before making system changes. submitted by /u/Ferdelance1969
