MacBook Pro Touch Bar Trackpad, Keyboard, and Wi-Fi Not Working After Sonoma 14.3 Update: Troubleshooting Guide

Guide:

If you've recently updated your MacBook Pro Touch Bar to Sonoma 14.3 and are experiencing issues with your trackpad, keyboard, Wi-Fi, and other functionalities, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Reset NVRAM and SMC:

  • Resetting the NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) and SMC (System Management Controller) can often resolve hardware-related issues.
  • Shutdown your MacBook Pro, then turn it back on and immediately hold down Option, Command, P, and R keys simultaneously for about 20 seconds to reset the NVRAM.
  • After resetting the NVRAM, shut down your MacBook Pro again, then press and hold the Shift, Control, Option, and Power buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds to reset the SMC.

2. Check System Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad and ensure that "Enable Mouse Keys" is unchecked.
  • Go to System Preferences > Keyboard and check the keyboard settings to ensure they are configured correctly.

3. Check Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Go to System Preferences > Network and check if your Wi-Fi network is listed and connected. If not, try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network or connecting to a different network if available.
  • If the Wi-Fi network is not detected, try restarting your router or access point.

4. Check for Updates:

  • Go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > Software Update to check for any available updates. Install any pending updates, including macOS updates and driver updates.

5. Reinstall macOS:

  • If the issue persists, consider reinstalling macOS Sonoma 14.3. Backup your important data first, then perform a clean reinstall of macOS.
  • Create a bootable macOS installer USB drive, boot from it, and reinstall macOS from scratch.

6. Contact Apple Support:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with your MacBook Pro. Contact Apple Support or visit an authorized Apple service provider for further assistance and diagnostics.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the trackpad, keyboard, Wi-Fi, and other functionality issues on your MacBook Pro Touch Bar after updating to Sonoma 14.3.
