Guide Step by Step:
Initial Diagnosis: Your XPS 13 9343 shows no graphics acceleration with the internal 4K display under macOS Monterey, though it works with an external display. This is a common issue related to the way macOS handles internal displays, particularly at higher resolutions like 4K.
Understanding the Problem: The Broadwell-based graphics in your XPS 13 9343 require specific configurations in macOS to function properly. Your current
config.plist
entries indicate an attempt to define the framebuffer and platform ID, but the lack of acceleration suggests a mismatch.Config.plist Adjustments: Start by revising the framebuffer settings in your
config.plist
. The values you've entered forframebuffer-con1-enable
,framebuffer-con1-type
,framebuffer-fbmem
, andframebuffer-stolenmem
need to be compatible with your 4K display and the Broadwell graphics.EDID Injection: Your approach to injecting the EDID from Linux is sound, as macOS can sometimes misinterpret display capabilities. Ensure the EDID is correctly formatted and injected into the
config.plist
.Graphics Patching: You may need to apply specific patches for Broadwell graphics. Look for patches that address issues with 4K displays and internal screen acceleration. Clover configurator or OpenCore configurator can be useful for this purpose.
Check Cable Connection: Internally, the 4K display might be connected via a non-standard interface. If macOS doesn't recognize this connection type, it may default to non-accelerated graphics. Research to see if others with the same model have encountered and resolved similar issues.
Testing and Verification: After making changes, reboot your system. Check if the graphics acceleration is working on the internal display. Use tools like 'IORegistryExplorer' to verify if macOS correctly recognizes your display.
Alternative Approaches: If the problem persists, consider using an older or newer version of macOS, as some versions have better support for certain hardware configurations.
Community Assistance: Reach out to Hackintosh forums and communities with specifics of your issue. Often, others may have faced similar problems and can offer solutions based on their experiences.
Final Validation: Once you have graphics acceleration working, ensure other functionalities like brightness control and sleep/wake are also functioning properly.
Creating config.plist: Unfortunately, without specific hardware information beyond what you've provided, generating a detailed config.plist
isn't feasible. However, based on your issue, focus on the graphics-related sections of the plist. Use a plist editor to ensure correct formatting and value entry.
Keep in mind that Hackintosh configurations can be quite unique to each hardware setup, and what works for one might not work for another. Patience and a methodical approach to troubleshooting are key.
[Help Needed] XPS 13 9343 Hackintosh - No Graphics Acceleration on Monterey
I'm seeking help with my XPS 13 9343 running macOS Monterey. The system boots successfully to the desktop, but unfortunately, I'm facing issues with graphics acceleration.
Issue:
Booting to macOS Monterey on my XPS 13 9343, I can access the desktop, but there's no graphics acceleration with the internal 4k display. On a connected external display there is a proper output.
It's a Broad well based system, here's the graphics part of the config.plist:
PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0); AAPL,ig-platform-id06002616, device-id 16160000, framebuffer-con1-enable 01000000, framebuffer-con1-type 00080000, framebuffer-fbmem 00009000, framebuffer-patch-enable 01000000, framebuffer-stolenmem 00003001
I added the EDID I found out on Linux:
EDID: 00ffffffffffff004d10211400000000 32180104a51d11780ede50a3544c9926 0f505400000001010101010101010101 010101010101cd9180a0c00834703020 350026a5100000180000001000000000 00000000000000000000000000fe0030 35503748854c513133335a3100000000 0002410328001200000b010a2020001b
With that I get a non accelerated output on the 4k internal display.
Does anyone have an idea what to adjust and where? I suspect the issue is how the 4k display is connected.
