It sounds like you're facing a complex issue with Intel WiFi and Bluetooth cards on your Hackintosh running macOS Sonoma, with additional Bluetooth problems on Windows. Let's break down the problem and explore some potential solutions.
Guide Step by Step:
Understanding the Issue:
- Intel WiFi cards often require specific kexts (kernel extensions) to work on macOS, and Bluetooth functionality can be even trickier.
- The fact that Bluetooth is also wonky on Windows suggests there might be a hardware-level issue at play.
Hardware Compatibility Check:
- Ensure the Intel AX200 and AC9560 cards are compatible with your motherboard and are properly seated in the M.2 slot.
- Since your motherboard is CNVI unlocked and these are CNVIO (not CNVIO2) cards, they should technically work.
Intel WiFi on macOS:
- For the AX200, it’s good that WiFi works with itlwm and Heliport. This indicates that the card is functional at least for WiFi.
- Ensure you have the latest versions of itlwm and Heliport.
Bluetooth Troubleshooting on macOS:
- The combination of IntelBTPatcher, IntelBluetoothFirmware, BlueToolFixup, and BrcmPatchRAM3 should theoretically enable Bluetooth functionality. Make sure these are the latest versions and correctly configured in your
config.plist
. - Check your BIOS settings to ensure there are no settings that might disable Bluetooth functionality.
- The combination of IntelBTPatcher, IntelBluetoothFirmware, BlueToolFixup, and BrcmPatchRAM3 should theoretically enable Bluetooth functionality. Make sure these are the latest versions and correctly configured in your
Troubleshooting on Windows:
- The fact that Bluetooth doesn’t work in Windows is concerning. This could indicate a hardware problem with the Bluetooth module on the cards.
- Update your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version.
- Check Windows Device Manager for any unknown devices or flags. If Bluetooth doesn't show up at all, it might be a hardware issue.
Testing the AC9560:
- No response from the AC9560 in either macOS or Windows strongly suggests a hardware issue with this card.
Trying a Different Card:
- Your plan to try a 9260 (non-CNVI) is a good next step. It might help determine if the issue is with the specific cards or a more systemic compatibility problem.
Reverting to Original Setup:
- For now, using the BCM94360 is a reliable fallback. Since it works well, it confirms that the M.2 slot and internal USB mapping are fine.
Physical Installation Challenges:
- Given the difficulty in accessing the motherboard in a SFF (Small Form Factor) case, it’s best to attempt fixes that have a higher likelihood of success. Gathering as much information before each hardware swap can save time and effort.
Seek Community Advice:
- Given the complexity and specificity of your issue, consider reaching out to Hackintosh communities or forums specializing in Hackintosh hardware configurations. They might offer insights specific to your motherboard and the Intel cards you're testing.
Final Thoughts:
- Troubleshooting Hackintosh setups can be challenging, especially with WiFi and Bluetooth hardware. Patience and a methodical approach are essential.
Remember, when dealing with Hackintosh configurations, not all hardware behaves as expected, and sometimes solutions involve a combination of hardware swaps and software tweaks.
BLUF: Can't get Intel WiFi+BT fully working on my Sonoma box. I appear to be seeing a bunch of problems that could be HW or SW or both in nature.
System:- AsRock Z490M-ITX/ac + 10700K- Originally BCM94360NG, testing AX200 and AC9560 (in vertical M.2 slot)- Sonoma 14.2.1, USB mapped- OpenCore 0.9.6
Also,- Mobo is CNVI unlocked- AX200 and AC9560 are CNVIO not CNVIO2 cards, so they should be fine on my mobo
My desktop is on Ethernet at home, so no big deal when I upgraded to Sonoma last month and lost Broadcom WiFi. Now that I have some travel coming up and will be bringing this box with me (and will likely only have WiFi for connectivity in some spots), I figured I'd see how well the Intel cards + itlwm solution worked. I've been Hackintoshing since 2009, and this one really has me stumped.
- Original card: BCM93460 with BT on internal USB properly mapped. Hackintool PCIe tab shows the 94360 device, so I know the M.2 slot is fine too.
- AX200: WiFi works with itlwm + Heliport, but BT simply does not show up.Kexts deployed: IntelBTPatcher, IntelBluetoothFirmware (before Lilu), BlueToolFixup, BrcmPatchRAM3.Booted into Windows 10 with Intel WiFi and BT drivers installed, and again WiFi works but not BT (can't seem to get it to appear in Device Manager).
- AC9560: Nothing comes up at all. Hackintool PCIe shows no device.Booted into Windows again, and neither WiFi or BT are working.
I'm confused. What am I missing?
I'm planning to try a 9260 (non CNVI version of the 9560), but it'll take a while to get hold of a card.
Did I mention I run a SFF box which makes it a fairly involved process to get the mobo out each time and swap the WiFi card? Argh. I've swapped back to the 94360 and will stay there until hopefully someone here sees something obvious I missed.
