Troubleshooting the Apple No Entry Symbol During Hackintosh Installation on Ryzen Systems

Hi guys,

I have been reading and scrolling and reading some more and been trying this all day. I'm hoping someone can help.

I keep getting the apple no entry symbol and the support address when I try and install from my usb.

I have adjusted all the config.plist and adjusted everything. I have usbmapped and all that jazz. I cannot find out what is going on.

Specs: Ryzen 5800x3d - 32gb Ram - Nvidia 4700 b550 MSI MB - Will be trying to install on a partition on a 2.5 SSD. But I have never got past this stage yet. It's really frustrating. I'm not sure what info is needed, but if there is any help I would appreciate it.

SOLUTION:

Target Audience: Intermediate to Expert users familiar with Hackintosh setup and basic troubleshooting.

Step 1: Verify BIOS Settings

  • Ensure that your BIOS settings are correctly configured for a Hackintosh installation. Key settings include:
    • Disable CSM (Compatibility Support Module)
    • Set SATA mode to AHCI
    • Disable Secure Boot

Step 2: Check Bootloader Configuration

  • Verify your bootloader configuration (Clover or OpenCore) is set up for AMD Ryzen systems. This includes ensuring that the correct kernel patches for AMD are applied.

Step 3: Review config.plist File

  • Double-check your config.plist file. This file must be tailored to your specific hardware, especially for Ryzen CPUs.
  • Use a plist editor to verify settings.

Step 4: USB Mapping

  • Since you've already USB mapped, confirm that your USB ports are correctly identified in the system. Incorrect USB mapping can cause installation failures.

Step 5: Graphics Card Compatibility

  • Nvidia GPUs, especially newer ones, have limited support in macOS. Research your specific GPU model for compatibility and required drivers or workarounds.

Step 6: SSDT and DSDT Patches

  • If you are using SSDT or DSDT patches, make sure they are compatible with your motherboard and CPU. Incorrect patches can prevent booting.

Step 7: Verbose Mode Booting

  • Boot in verbose mode to see where the boot process is halting. This is done by adding the -v flag in your bootloader settings.

Step 8: macOS Version and Installer Check

  • Make sure you're using a compatible version of macOS for your hardware. Some versions have better Ryzen support than others.
  • Confirm that your macOS installer is not corrupted.

Step 9: Disk Preparation

  • Ensure the partition you're installing macOS on is correctly formatted (APFS for newer macOS versions).
  • If possible, try installing on a separate SSD rather than a partition to rule out partitioning issues.

Step 10: Community Support

  • If the issue persists, seek help from Hackintosh communities. Provide them with your verbose boot logs and system specifications for more detailed assistance.

Feedback and Updates:

  • Share your experience and any additional steps that helped resolve the issue to assist others in the community.
  • Regularly check for updates on Hackintosh methods and compatibility for Ryzen systems.
