SOLUTIONS:
Target Audience: Intermediate to Expert Hackintosh Users
Solution Overview:
Experiencing AirPlay connectivity issues on Hackintosh systems, particularly after updating macOS Sonoma, is not uncommon. This guide provides troubleshooting steps to resolve the "Could not establish connection with AirPlay-AMA" error, especially in a setup involving an Ethernet-connected Hackintosh and a Wi-Fi-connected AirPort Express.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Check Network Connectivity:
- Ensure both the Hackintosh and the AirPort Express are on the same network subnet.
- Test the network connectivity of both devices to rule out basic network issues.
Restart Devices:
- Restart both your Hackintosh and the AirPort Express. This can resolve temporary glitches causing connectivity issues.
Update AirPort Express Firmware:
- Check for any available firmware updates for your AirPort Express and update it to the latest version.
Verify System Compatibility:
- Ensure that your Ivy Bridge and Polaris graphics setup is fully compatible with the latest Sonoma update.
- Compatibility issues might interfere with AirPlay functionality.
Reconfigure Network Settings:
- On your Hackintosh, go to System Preferences → Network.
- Remove the Ethernet service and re-add it. This can refresh your network settings.
Check Audio Output Settings:
- Go to System Preferences → Sound → Output.
- Make sure the AirPort Express is listed and selected as the output device.
Disable and Re-enable AirPlay:
- Turn off AirPlay on your Hackintosh, wait a few moments, then turn it back on.
- This can sometimes re-establish a failed connection.
LegacyPatcher Check:
- Since you're using LegacyPatcher, ensure it's updated to the latest version.
- Reapply the patches if necessary, as updates can sometimes override custom settings.
Examine Console Logs:
- Use the Console app to check for any error messages related to AirPlay when you attempt to connect.
- This can provide clues on the nature of the issue.
Seek Community Help:
- If the problem persists, consider seeking help from the Hackintosh community forums. Someone might have encountered and solved a similar issue.
Additional Tips:
- Isolate the Issue: Try using AirPlay with another device to determine if the issue is with the Hackintosh or the AirPort Express.
- Backup Before Changes: Always backup your system before making significant changes, especially when updating or patching.

Hello everyone... I come with a query that I hope does not violate any rules since I use OCLP... I have a Hackintosh mounted on an Ivy Bridge with polaris graphics... I have ported all versions of Mac OS X and macOS with OpenCore, with excellent results... Today I am running Sonoma very smoothly and without problems thanks to OpenCoreLegacyPatcher... A year ago I got an AirPort Expres base (audio only) that is connected to my local network via Wiffi connection... My Hackintosh is connected to the Local Network via Ethernet... Since the first Beta version of Sonoma I have been able to transmit music from my Hackintosh (connected by Ethernet) to the AirPort Expres base (connected by Wiffi), but when updating to the latest version of Sonoma (macOS 14.2.1 (23C71)) it has stopped to work by issuing a warning that says: Could not establish connection with "AirPlay-AMA" Does anyone have any idea how to solve this or does anyone know if there is a solution? In advance, I really appreciate your answers... [link] [comments] |
