Guide: Enabling iMessage and FaceTime with Unsupported Wi-Fi Adapters
Target Audience: Hackintosh Users with Non-Apple Wi-Fi Adapters
Steps to Enable iMessage and FaceTime:
Install Chris's Wireless Utility:
- This utility helps to make certain unsupported wireless adapters functional on macOS.
Address Network Interface Issues:
- macOS may not recognize third-party Wi-Fi adapters as native AirPort devices, which can cause services like iMessage to not work correctly.
Create a Custom Video Guide:
- You've mentioned creating a short video tutorial. This is extremely helpful for visual learners and can be a step-by-step guide through the process.
Extra Steps for Non-Apple Wi-Fi Cards:
- Since most guides cater to Apple-supported PCI cards, using a USB adapter may require additional configuration or spoofing to mimic supported hardware.
Share the Solution:
- Uploading your tutorial on a platform like YouTube and sharing the link can provide assistance to the community.
Feedback and Support:
- Share your success and the link to your video guide on Hackintosh forums and communities.
- Offer to assist others who might have the same wireless adapter or face similar challenges.
Reminder:
- Modifying system files and configurations can lead to system instability. Always back up your system before making changes.
- Be aware that not all third-party adapters will work with macOS, and those that do may not support all features.
It's important to note for others reading this that using unsupported hardware on a Hackintosh can be a hit or miss, and may violate the terms of service for software like iMessage and FaceTime. Always proceed with caution and be aware of the potential risks involved in such modifications.
Like title says, am using Cudy WU1400 Wireless USB Adapter and following guide works well with it. Cudy WU1400 USB Wireless Adapter has Realtek RTL 8812 BU Chipset, official driver doesn't work well with macOS Sonoma in my case. So I have used Chris's Wireless Utility to make it usable. But iMessages and FaceTime was still broken, as its pretty much known issue.
I have followed two guides to fix the iMessage issue, Dortania's one for OC and others, but both of them didn't work for me as they are regarding how we can use it with Apple Supported PCI card options, such as Fenvi T919 or other Broadcom chipset cards. So I had to do some extra steps to fix it, created a short video how i did it, below is the one!
