First Hackintosh: Resolving WiFi Issues on Hackintosh with Asus TUF B660m and Intel i5 12400F

Solution:

Based on your successful iATKOS Project build with the Asus TUF B660m D4 Plus WiFi motherboard and Intel i5 12400F CPU, but facing issues with WiFi on Sonoma, here are some steps and considerations:

  1. WiFi Compatibility: Wireless networking is often one of the most challenging aspects of a Hackintosh setup. Apple uses a limited range of wireless adapter chips, and compatibility issues arise if your motherboard's WiFi chip is not one of them.

  2. Check WiFi Hardware: Determine the exact model of the WiFi chip on your Asus TUF B660m motherboard. This information is crucial for finding compatible drivers or solutions.

  3. Alternative WiFi Solutions: If the onboard WiFi is not compatible, consider using a USB wireless adapter known to work with Hackintosh systems. Some known compatible adapters include Netgear WG111v2, RokAir, and Asus WL-167g.

  4. Disable Onboard WiFi: If using an external WiFi adapter, disable the onboard WiFi in BIOS to prevent conflicts.

  5. Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure that your motherboard's BIOS is up to date. Check if there are any specific drivers required for the WiFi module for macOS.

  6. Kexts for Networking: Investigate if there are any specific Kernel Extensions (kexts) that might improve the compatibility of your onboard WiFi chip with macOS.

  7. Community Resources: Search Hackintosh forums for any user-shared solutions or EFI folders for builds similar to yours, especially focusing on the WiFi aspect.

  8. Ethernet as an Alternative: As you're already using Ethernet, it could be a more stable solution if WiFi continues to be problematic.

  9. Detailed Documentation: Keep detailed notes of any changes you make, so you can reverse them if needed and for troubleshooting.

Visual Aids: Diagrams or screenshots detailing BIOS settings, EFI folder structures, or installation steps for alternative WiFi solutions can be helpful.

Additional Note: Hackintosh builds are unique and can require a lot of trial and error, especially with components like WiFi. Patience and thorough research are key to finding a solution.

First Hackintosh

My first Hackintosh successfully built using OpenCore!

CPU: Intel i5 12400FGPU: Radeon RX 6600 EAGLE 8GBRAM: 16GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 3200MHzMotherboard: Asus TUF B660m D4 Plus WiFi

Everything works great except for WiFi on Sonoma, although I use Ethernet anyway :)
