Resolving Post-Installation Graphics Issues on MacBook Air 2015 with Sonoma and OCLP

GUIDE STEP BY STEP:

1. Confirm Root Patches Installation:

  • It's essential to ensure that root patches were correctly applied during the installation process. If the graphics performance is slow, it might indicate that the patches were not applied.

2. Check OCLP Application Presence:

  • If the OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) app is not in the Applications folder and you have to add it manually, it suggests that the post-installation process might not have completed successfully.

3. Manually Install OCLP:

  • Copy the OCLP application from the USB drive to the Applications folder on your MacBook Air manually.

4. Fix Application Launch Issues:

  • If the OCLP app bounces only once and won’t open, try the following:
    • Right-click (or Control-click) on the OCLP app and select 'Open' to bypass any unidentified developer restrictions.
    • If it still doesn't open, check if you have the latest version of OCLP compatible with Sonoma.

5. Apply Root Patches Again:

  • Open OCLP from the Downloads folder.
  • Reapply the root patches by following the OCLP instructions.
  • Ensure to build and install the patches to the internal drive.

6. Verify Graphics Functionality:

  • After applying the patches, reboot the system.
  • Check if the graphics performance has improved.

7. Additional Troubleshooting:

  • If problems persist, reset the NVRAM by restarting your MacBook and immediately holding down Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds.
  • Consider reinstalling Sonoma, ensuring that OCLP root patches are applied during the installation.

8. Final Steps:

  • After successful troubleshooting, ensure OCLP is in the Applications folder.
  • Create an alias for OCLP in your Dock for easy access if needed in the future.

Notes:

  • The guide assumes that you have a basic understanding of navigating macOS and using the OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
  • Always have a backup of your data before making system changes.
  • If you continue to experience issues, seek assistance from the OCLP community or forums dedicated to Hackintosh setups.
Error after Install
Error after Install

I have just done installing Sonoma on my MacBook Air 2015 (MacBookAir7,2), and I assumed root patches were installed. But then after I first logged in, the graphics is very slow and I can’t seem to open OCLP app from the Applications folder (it bounces only once and won’t open). Did I somehow messed up the install, even though I left it unattended?
