Guide:
If you're experiencing a boot freeze at "EndRandomSeed" after updating the BIOS on your Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master Hackintosh, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Disable SetVirtualMap:
- Access your config.plist using a plist editor like Propertree or any text editor capable of handling XML files.
- Locate the
SetVirtualMap
quirk under theKernel
section and set it toDisabled
. This quirk is known to cause compatibility issues with certain BIOS versions.
2. Reset BIOS Settings:
- Boot into your motherboard's BIOS settings and reset all settings to their default values. This ensures that any misconfigured settings are reverted.
3. Check BIOS Compatibility:
- Verify that the BIOS version you updated to (F35) is compatible with your specific motherboard model and hardware configuration. Visit Gigabyte's official website to confirm compatibility.
4. Verify Other BIOS Settings:
- Double-check other BIOS settings that are important for Hackintosh compatibility, such as VT-d, CFG Lock, Secure Boot, and any other settings recommended in your Hackintosh guide. Ensure they are properly configured.
5. Clear CMOS:
- Clear the CMOS memory of your motherboard by either using the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard or removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes. This resets all BIOS settings to default.
6. Rebuild OpenCore Configuration:
- If the issue persists, consider rebuilding your OpenCore configuration from scratch. Ensure that all necessary ACPI patches, kexts, and drivers are properly configured for your hardware.
7. Test Boot:
- After making the necessary changes, attempt to boot your system again. Monitor the boot process for any error messages or freezes.
8. Contact Support:
- If you're still unable to boot successfully, consider reaching out to Gigabyte support for assistance with BIOS compatibility or seeking help from the Hackintosh community forums for further troubleshooting.
By following these steps, you should be able to address the boot freeze issue on your Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master Hackintosh after updating the BIOS. Remember to proceed with caution when modifying BIOS settings to avoid any potential hardware damage.
Mojave. Gigabyte X570 Aourus Master. 3950x. BIOS F11.
I have run Mojave with no issues on this for years. I recently got a 5950x to upgrade CPU. When I installed it, the board threw error codes and I learned I needed F30 or later to run 5000 series CPUs. I put the 3950x back in and updated the BIOS to F35. Update was successful. I then changed the applicable BIOS settings back to being Hackintosh friendly. (I THINK I got them all.) The boot is now freezing at "EndRandomSeed."
From this link, https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/troubleshooting/extended/kernel-issues.html#stuck-on-eb-log-exitbs-start, it appears my new BIOS may be incompatible with SetVirtualMap = Enabled. I am trying to open my config.plist in propertree (Its been over 3 years since I've done any of this so Im a little fuzzy) to check the SetVirtualMap quirk.
However, when I try to open the plist file I get the following error. "_PlistParser._init_() got an unexpected keyword argument 'use_builtin_types'"
Any help would be appreciated. This is my main machine that I do work on.
EDIT - I used the sanity checker to view config.plist and SetVirtualMap is YES so Im assuming I need to start with disabling it. Still need advice on opening the file to edit it.
