Hackintosh Guide: Installing Big Sur on Acer Aspire E1-570

Guide:

If you're looking to install Big Sur on your Acer Aspire E1-570 and encounter any issues or want to optimize the system further, here's a guide to help you:

1. Pre-Installation Preparation:

  • Ensure you have a macOS Big Sur installer downloaded from the App Store or obtained from a trusted source.
  • Create a bootable USB installer using tools like gibMacOS or createinstallmedia.

2. BIOS Settings:

  • Access your laptop's BIOS settings and configure them as follows:
    • Enable UEFI boot mode.
    • Disable Secure Boot.
    • Set SATA mode to AHCI.

3. OpenCore Configuration:

  • Set up OpenCore bootloader by following the Dortania OpenCore Install Guide for Intel Ivy Bridge systems.
  • Customize your config.plist according to your hardware specifications and requirements. Pay attention to ACPI, Kernel, DeviceProperties, and other relevant sections.

4. Kexts and Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the necessary kexts and drivers in your EFI folder. Common kexts include Lilu, WhateverGreen, VirtualSMC, AppleALC, and appropriate Ethernet and Wi-Fi kexts for your Broadcom and Qualcomm Atheros cards.
  • Use Hackintool or similar tools to generate SSDTs and customize ACPI patches for your system.

5. Post-Installation Tweaks:

  • After successfully booting into macOS, install additional kexts using a tool like Hackintool or Hackintosh-specific package managers (e.g., Hackintool, OpenCore Configurator).
  • Apply any necessary fixes for sleep, brightness control, microphone, and other non-working features. Refer to online forums, Hackintosh communities, and guides specific to your laptop model for troubleshooting steps.

6. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Upgrade:

  • Consider replacing the Qualcomm Atheros Wi-Fi card with a compatible Intel one for better compatibility and performance. Ensure you use a supported model to avoid compatibility issues.

7. Community Support and Resources:

  • Join Hackintosh forums, Discord servers, and online communities for additional support, troubleshooting tips, and resources specific to Acer laptops and Big Sur installations.
  • Share your experiences, ask questions, and contribute to the community to help others with similar setups.

By following these steps and leveraging community resources, you can successfully install and optimize macOS Big Sur on your Acer Aspire E1-570 laptop for a smooth Hackintosh experience.

\"About this Mac\"

My first Hackintosh is finally complete! I am planning on switching the Wi-Fi card with an Intel one so it works better than 500KBPs and I can also listen through AirPods clearly, but other than that I am very satisfied with my efforts.

Acer Aspire E1-570:

OS: Big Sur

CPU: I3-3217U @ 1.80 GHz

GPU: IHD 4000

RAM: 12GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (It doesn't boot with 16 for some reason)

SDD: KINGSTON 256GB SA400S37240G

Ethernet Board: Broadcom NetXtreme BCM57786 Gigabit

Wi-Fi Board: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565

Bluetooth Module: Atheros AR3012

Speakers: Realtek ALC282

Peripherals: Built in SDXC Reader, DVD-RAM UJ8D2Q

What works:

  • Graphics Acceleration
  • Sleep (I don't think it's hibernating though)
  • Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth suck because Atheros is not natively supported)
  • Brightness Slider
  • Audio
  • HDMI
  • iServices

What doesn't work

  • Sleep on lid close (I think my lid is broken)
  • Microphone
  • Brightness Keys
