Guide:
Introduction
Playing Fortnite on a High Sierra Hackintosh can be challenging due to compatibility issues. In this guide, we'll explore steps to help you get Fortnite up and running on your system.
Step 1: Check Hardware Compatibility
Ensure your Hackintosh hardware meets Fortnite's minimum system requirements. This includes CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage. Visit Fortnite's official website for specific requirements.
Step 2: Update macOS
- Make sure your High Sierra installation is up-to-date. Install any available macOS updates through the Apple Menu > "Software Update."
Step 3: Update Graphics Drivers
- Verify you have the latest NVIDIA web drivers and CUDA drivers installed for your GTX 970.
Step 4: Launch Fortnite in Safe Mode
Hold down the "Option" key while launching Fortnite. This will open a menu that allows you to launch the game in Safe Mode.
Try launching the game in Safe Mode to see if it runs without issues. If it does, the problem may be related to a third-party application or driver conflict.
Step 5: Verify Game Files
If Fortnite doesn't launch in Safe Mode, verify the game files. Sometimes, files can become corrupted.
In the Epic Games Launcher, click on the Fortnite game tile.
Click the gear icon, then select "Verify."
Let the verification process complete. If any files are corrupted, they will be re-downloaded.
Step 6: Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts
- Disable or uninstall any third-party software that may interfere with Fortnite. This includes applications that overlay game graphics or capture gameplay.
Step 7: Adjust Graphics Settings
- In Fortnite's settings, lower the graphics settings to the lowest possible to see if the game launches. You can gradually increase the settings to find a balance between performance and visuals.
Step 8: Reinstall Fortnite
- If all else fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling Fortnite to ensure a clean installation.
Step 9: Contact Epic Games Support
- If you still cannot launch Fortnite on your High Sierra Hackintosh, contact Epic Games' support. They may have additional guidance or solutions.
Conclusion
Running Fortnite on a High Sierra Hackintosh can be challenging due to compatibility issues. Make sure your hardware and software are up-to-date, and try the troubleshooting steps provided in this guide. Remember that Hackintosh systems may not always provide the same level of compatibility and support as official Macs, so be prepared for occasional challenges when running macOS on non-Apple hardware.
Hello. I‘ve successfuly installed High Sierra on my i7-4790 and GTX 970 pc with nvidia web and cuda drivers. Downloaded Fortnite mac version but when I click launch it shortly says running than goes back to launch without the game starting. The mac version is on a season I much prefer to the windows version so I‘m trying to make this work instead of just running it on windows.
