Any video Pro’s on building a powerful video post workstation vs using Windows?

As a video professional who can’t currently afford the “apple tax” on Apples Mac Pro, I’m trying to spec a “Very Best Bang For The Buck” crazy fast a system as possible, and would prefer to use OSX (but also ideally, dual boot to windows possibly Linux if ever necessary) if possible?

I cut a variety of effects heavy (colored, noise reduced, stabilized) footage (mainly .R3D, BRAW, ProRes) on Resolve, Premiere, and FCP X occasionally. I also use After Effects, Blender, Mocha, Logic Pro, and several other CPU / GPU / RAM / SSD intensive apps, and am not only looking for gas high Rez playback of multiple 8k .R3D timelines w/ effects, but fas render times too.

For this build, I’m looking to spend at least $5k US and up (though the ROI for spending above that must be well justified). I’m MORE than happy to buy used, open box refurb whatever - as long as it results in an approx “90% best performance at FAR greater savings” than purchasing the very latest most expensive brand new components.

Obviously CPU, motherboard, ram, and GPU’s matter a lot…SSD’s too (I have thus crazy idea if somehow RAIDing a dozen or more intensive but fast ssds for a large super fast “work storage” volume (which later ets archived to slower cheaper spinning disks) but throughput / hardware (PCI cards?) is an issue and so will likely go with TB4 / USB4 to connect project / media volumes?

Happy to get in the weeds here if any Video rockstars out there care to weigh in? lol TIA!
