Troubleshooting WiFi on Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1

It sounds like you've made significant progress with your Hackintosh setup on the Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1. The WiFi issue you're experiencing is indeed peculiar, especially considering it was initially functional. Here's a step-by-step guide to address this problem:

  1. Check Your System Preferences:

    • Navigate to System Preferences > Network.
    • Ensure that WiFi is set up correctly and is in the list of network services.
    • If WiFi is not listed, add it by clicking the + button at the bottom of the list.
  2. Review Your kexts (Kernel Extensions):

    • Verify that you have the correct kexts for your WiFi hardware.
    • Ensure that the kexts are properly loaded. You can check this using terminal commands like kextstat | grep -i wifi.
  3. Reset Network Settings:

    • Sometimes, resetting network settings can resolve such issues.
    • Delete existing WiFi preferences by navigating to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and removing network-related plist files.
    • Reboot your system and reconfigure your WiFi settings.
  4. Hardware Compatibility Check:

    • Confirm that your WiFi hardware is compatible with macOS Big Sur.
    • If it was working during installation but stopped afterward, it might be due to a software update or configuration change.
  5. Examine System Logs:

    • Check system logs for any errors related to WiFi. You can use the Console app to view logs.
    • Look for any error messages that occur around the time WiFi stops working.
  6. Consider Alternate WiFi Solutions:

    • If the built-in WiFi card is not compatible, you might need to replace it with a macOS-compatible one.
    • Commonly used Hackintosh-compatible WiFi cards include models from Broadcom, such as BCM94360NG or BCM94352Z.
  7. Software and OS Updates:

    • Ensure that you are running the latest version of macOS Big Sur and that all software updates are applied.
    • Sometimes, updates can fix compatibility issues.
  8. Community Forums and Resources:

    • Search for similar issues in Hackintosh forums and communities.
    • Platforms like Reddit’s r/hackintosh or tonymacx86.com are valuable resources.

Final Note:

  • If the issue persists after trying these steps, replacing the WiFi card with a known macOS-compatible model is a reliable solution.
  • Ensure that any new hardware you purchase is compatible with both your laptop and macOS Big Sur.

config.plist Update:

  • Since the problem seems to be hardware-related, updating the config.plist might not be necessary at this stage. Focus on the troubleshooting steps first.
  • If a new WiFi card is installed or if you make significant changes to your system’s configuration, updating the config.plist would then be appropriate.

Remember, Hackintosh builds can be finicky, and sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to get everything working perfectly. Keep experimenting, and don't hesitate to reach out to the Hackintosh community for support.

Almost working! Dell latitude 7390 2 in 1

Almost everything works on this Dell Latitude 7390 2in1 i7 8650U, running big Sur. What is working: -Touchscreen -Touchpad (except right click button) -Keyboard -Some function keys (like volume but not brightness, you have to do it by the control panel) -All the usb ports (even the usb c ones: sadly I don't have any thunderbolt things to connect so I can't check that) -battery What is not working: -Sleep -bluetooth -wifi BUT when installing Mac os was working!! It let me chose my home network and connect, and on first boot WiFi and internet navigation was working. Then, all of a sudden it did stop and now doesn't work anymore.

Can somebody help me with this WiFi issue? Should I just buy another card? It is very weird that it doesn't work out of nowhere
