I'm a graphics programmer looking into porting some of our stuff to macOS/iOS as we expect Apple is going to become a serious player in gaming over the next 5 years. I already have a Hackintosh I've built for fun, 5950X + 64 GB etc. with the "classic" Polaris 8 GB RX 480. Yes, I am aware of having to patch out Intel code in various DCCTs, already did that for all the things I use on macOS.
As I need a workstation in terms of GPU prowess, can I just add the pikera boot flag and coast with a 6800 XT without having issues with coverage of Metal support or should I just bite the bullet and buy an M3 Max or an M2 Ultra as it's pretty much the future(tm)?
Synthetic benchmarks still show the 6800 XT being on par with an M2 Ultra, but that's, I imagine, results collected on the "genuine article", Mac Pro with an RDNA2 GPU.
