Hey all. I’ve a quick question. I’m currently running Catalina. I’ve pretty much booted off an external thunderbolt 1 the whole time (SSD). The internal drive is the 5400 RPM spinner good ole Macintosh HD. Yes I know I can replace it (I did it with my other mini) but for now it’s running Mojave (only used when I needed a semi-contemporary OS). Up until very recently I’ve been running 10.10.5 Yosemite off the external SSD.
It’s time to join 2023 and install Sonoma using OCLP 1.2.1. Created a USB with Sonoma installer and installed OpenCore on it. My question is this: OCLP says to use OpenCore on “installers and internal drives.” Do I install it on the drive I plan to boot off of (external connected via thunderbolt) or the internal Macintosh HD? I had assumed you install the open core bootloader on the boot device but I’m tripped up by the “use on installers and internal drives” bit. Just want to double-check.
Thanks for the time. Sorry to use so many words to ask a very basic question. I just figure the more info about what I’m working with the better.
