Can I use Opencore Legacy Patcher on a new fresh SSD?

Hi!

I bought a used Macbook Air 13" mid 2012. I want to swap the SSD to a bigger and faster one. I don't need any backup data to be transfered to the new SSD.

Do I need to instal the OG version of the system or just straight boot up the Opencore from USB drive and instal a fresh one like that?

Sorry for the silly question. I'm new to Mac's in overall and I didn't find a question that directly answered that.
