First, before you post "add agdp... to bootargs"... I already tried, it did nothing.
I have a solid running system.
i5-10600K
3x GT-730
Gigabyte mobo...
And Catalina... yes, it works best for me currently
system has been in constant use without flaws for almost 2 years now.
But I decided to upgrade to the WX4100 to get more VRam and the extra video outs... I use the system with Qlab and need lots of video surfaces, the 3x GT-730s have been working, but I both want/need more, and honestly, they are just much better GPU's.
But I have run into the supposed Black Screen issue, except that it isn't... because the normal bootargs don't work.
As I have multiple GPU's I can plug into another, and it is in fact booted, at the login screen, but when plugged into the WX4100 it is black...
Further, when running off another GPU but with a display still connected to the WX4100 the entire system lags horribly.
However... also weird, but the WX and any attached displays show up just fine in System Info.
But the system seems to know that there is no output, because in display settings, it shows each display with desktop on it in the settings windows.. but the displays connected to the WX actually show as Black in settings.
Tests so far, I used Mint to verify the HW config is solid, nothing is weird, all tests fine.
Worth noting, that 1x GT-730 is removed and replaced with the WX, I can only fit 3 GPU's as one of my pcie1x slots is blocked from taking a longer card by the cmos battery.
I did try moving the WX to another slot, that doesn't matter
I tried boot args agdpmod=pikera AND agdpmod=vit9696
I cleaned up OC a little, it did have two disabled SSDTs for old GPU's, removed those entirely just in case
And verified the system does have AMD9500Controller.kext installed.
I am confused because everyone I can find online says one of two things... the WX works metal, or pikera fixes black screen... but based on what I am seeing I believe that HW accel is failing, that would explain the lag when any display is plugged in despite that display not working. But why is it failing? Unfortunately I do not currently have access to another mac/hack that I can plug this GPU into, but testing with Mint seems to say it is fine.
Also... system is in a 2u server chassis, so lo-pro GPU's are a must, and due to running multiples, 1-slot GPU's are a must.
Thanks for any help, can post Config if needed, but there is no patching or args at all related to this...
Config does have patching for iGPU. Patched as no-display with buffer for Adobe only.
