I have a 2010 iMac 11,2 with a Radeon HD 4670. It is currently running High Sierra. I just put a new SSD in it, and I'm using it to stream Moonlight from my gaming PC (works great!).
I am interested in using OpenCore Legacy Patcher to update to Ventura, but there are some scary looking possible incompatibilities that are making me a little spooked.
- The HD 4670 is only very recently supported because GPU acceleration used to be broken, but now there is a patch that supposedly makes it work. Does it indeed work just fine with daily driver type stability?
- The HD 4670 is not compatible with Metal (only OpenGL) so I won't be able to use the newer versions of some apps such as iMovie. Can Ventura run old versions of iMovie before it switched to Metal? Am I just asking for nightmares with that?
Essentially I am wondering if I should update to the shiny new OS and shouldn't fear everything breaking, or if should stick to "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
Please let me know if you have any experience with this. Thanks in advance!
