Mac Mini Late 2012 On Ventura 13.4.1 cost and experience

Breaking down my experience as simple as I can so that it would be easier for at least one of you.

Spec - Mac Mini Late 2012 with i7, 4GB/ 1 TB Fusion HDD.

Current Spec - 16GB (8x2) Sk Hynix PC3L-12800 / 240 GB BX500 Crucial SSD

I updated to latest Apple supported Catalina from Mountain Lion. Then added OCLP 0.6.7 to get to latest Monterey and then did a normal software update from “System Settings” to get to Ventura 13.4.1.

Mountain Lion to Ventura isn’t possible!

The combination which worked for me is given below: Mountain Lion -> El Capitan -> Catalina(Software Update via App Store) -> Monterey (OCLP) -> Ventura 13.4.1 (Software Update)

1 TB Fusion Hard drive is unusable. (Very Slow) Upgradation to SSD made it very fast.

Issues faced initially: 1)Very laggy animation. Solved with OCLP Post-Install Patch as only then it identified my Intel Graphics Driver which made the animations smoother.

2)Control Centre kept disappearing after some minutes of reboot. Solved by toggling off “Link to Mac or iPad” which can be found in - System Settings - Displays - Advanced.

3)Videos were not playing and showed playback error in Safari. Solved after Upgrading RAM to 8GB. (from 4)

Cost: 240GB SSD - ₹1,211 ($14.79) 1 8GB RAM - ₹799 ($9.76) Total = ₹2809 ($24.55)

1 8GB RAM was sufficient for me but I went for 2 8GBs since it was cheap and it might be less available in future.

It is very easy to add RAMs. SSDs too can be added without any issues. Just watch some YT videos and anyone can do it. (Only T-6 and T-8 screwdrivers are required)

One can go for a mini-DP to DP cable and output 2k at 60Hz if you have a monitor with 2k/ more resolution.

My Mac thunderbolt port isn’t working for some reason so I’ve limited it to work only at 1080p with HDMI cable.

All the best!
