Fixing Installation Freeze on ASUS ROG STRIX G513IH Hackintosh

Troubleshooting ASUS ROG STRIX G513IH Hackintosh Installation Freeze
Guide for Intermediate Users

If your Hackintosh installation on an ASUS ROG STRIX G513IH is freezing, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

  1. EFI Configuration: Ensure your EFI folder is properly configured for your ASUS hardware. This includes correct SSDT patches and kexts.
  2. Update Kexts: Make sure you are using the latest versions of essential kexts like Lilu, VirtualSMC, WhateverGreen, and NVMeFix (if available).
  3. SSD Configuration: In your BIOS, check if both NVMe SSDs are set to AHCI mode and not RAID. macOS does not support RAID out of the box.
  4. Boot Arguments: Add the boot argument 'debug=0x100' to help with troubleshooting. This will prevent the system from rebooting on panic, allowing you to read error messages.
  5. USB Ports: Sometimes, the installation freeze could be related to USB configuration. Make sure your USB ports are properly configured in your EFI.
  6. Single SSD Attempt: Try disconnecting one of the SSDs and attempt the installation on the other to isolate the issue.
  7. Verbose Mode: Boot in verbose mode to identify at which point the installation process is freezing.
  8. Check Installer Integrity: Verify the integrity of your macOS installer. A corrupted installer can cause freezes during installation.
  9. Consult the Community: Visit the repository you mentioned and check the issues section for similar problems or create a new issue detailing your problem for community assistance.

Note: Installation issues can be unique to each system. Persistence and community support are key.
