I managed to get Big Sur running on my Ryzen PC with following specs -
- CPU - Ryzen 7 5700G (Cezzane)
- iGPU - Radeon Vega 8
- dGPU - RTX 3070 Ti
- Motherboard - Asus Tuf Gaming B550 Wifi Plus
- RAM - 16x2 GB DDR4 3600MHz memory (dual channel)
I followed the Dortania guide to create the USB installer and included all AMD patches as suggested. I also included NootedRed kext to enable my 5700G's iGPU. I also made the following changes in my BIOS -
What’s working -
-
Ethernet (RealTek Semiconductor RTL8125 Gaming 2.5GbE)
-
Audio out (ALC1200 codec)
-
USB (v3.1)
What’s NOT working -
-
Wifi/Bluetooth (MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Network Adapter)
-
Graphics Acceleration - I ran VDADecoderChecker in terminal and got below error
- Multiple displays - I am only getting output on 1 DisplayPort connected to my WQHD monitor
Other Issues found so far -
- For some reason about my mac is showing CPU as 8-Core Intel Xeon W
- I am getting a warning about my memory configuration as below
- Web browsing (specially videos) is painfully slow and graphics in some apps break a lot
I am yet to try out other aspects/functionalities of MacOS as I want to fix the GPU issue before that.
Here is my config.plist file.
Any leads/help on these issues would be great! Thanks!
