Is a Hackintosh a good idea for my Situation

I work in Graphic Design for a medium sized Company and have to use Apple for work. The official company Mac that I got... works... but part of my job is to render Videos which takes forever, due to it's low RAM, etc.

Instead of buying a very expensive Mac for myself, which will just gather dust if I change jobs, because I don't use Mac outside of work, I figured, I should try building a Hackintosh instead. Is this a good idea? If I'll mainly use it to Render Videos and Photoshop for large quality images that need a lot of power?

The way I figured I'd do it, is by having a second hard drive, so I can work and play from the same computer, just by Booting from the other Drive.
Techwise, I'm a novice, but my Partner is in IT uses Debian, so I am confident that we could figure out how to get it running, once I have resolved wether it's a good idea in the first place.

+ if you have recommendations for Hardware, that would also be welcome. I'll use it as a workstation, so it can be really bulky. What I need is raw power and good cooling without spending over 5 000 on a machine that'll just break in two years.
