the desktop hackintosh with a Vega56 Sapphire reference can't seem to handle 4K @ 60Hz and registers at 30Hz on my 4K TV.
Hardware: i7 8700K- GPU: Sapphire Radeon Vega 56 8GB - RAM:32GB Corsair Vengeance - Mobo: Gigabyte Z370 XP SLI. Bootloader: Clover 4953
i have installed latest Lilu and WhateverGreen (updated the older 2018 ones) and no change so far. before that, thinking it was the cable, i replaced a HDMI 1.0 cable that i had in place since my last desktop hackintosh build (2013) with a 15ft StarTech HDMI 2.0 cable which generally have good ratings and i'm using the Display Port out with an adapter on the Vega56. i'm not sure if its an active adapter but i think so. i also think that it seemed to support 60Hz briefly after the new cable was purchased and installed but it looks like at the least it's being inconsistent now.
my other High Sierra - based hackintosh laptop/hackbook dual boot (Asus ROG GL502 VS) has a GTX1070 mobile in it and has no issues with running 60Hz in macOS or Windows on the same TV. also it was installed with exactly the same version of Clover in an Olarila based image that i used for the desktop, so this seems like an AMD issue to me or possibly hardware based. i guess it might be the cable still or possibly the adapter but i'm beginning to have doubts.
is there any way to force resolution? i did download a utility called SwitchResX but it did not let me set the refresh vertical to 60Hz at anything greater than 1080p.
any help or advice appreciated. thanks!
