So I tried to update to monterey simply through the system installation. Before I clicked install, I updated all kexts in my system efi. Then I clicked install and the pc did not start. Then I plugged in a usb stick with opencore on it and was able to boot into the update menu. In this update environment there was an error message "A required firmware update could not be installed." In this menu I can not move the mouse pointer.
With the usb stick I can boot normally into macos catalina again, but I don't understand why I can't boot without the usb stick?
