On January 2020 I began my first Mac installation with Sierra 10.12.6 it's running perfectly and I am writing this on it today.

I was also able to update my old Macbook Pro 17" Late 2008 model to Catalina 10.15, which supposedly only went to El Capitan 10.11.6.
