Transparency without hardware acceleration

I'm actually running macOS in a VM, but just for the aesthetics, I'd like to have the blur and transparency effects.

Unfortunately, since I can't do GPU passthrough, they don't seem to work.

Is there a way to get those effects using software rendering? I know it'll be super slow, but I'd like to force it anyways if it's possible.
