so, I've been doing some thinking/research, and was trying to decide if i should sell me Radeon VII and cash in on this craze, then put the $ towards a 6800 XT or 6900 XT and either save the rest or put it towards additional upgrades. I mainly use premiere pro , Final Cut and Avid Media Composer, occasional After Effects and Davinci Resolve.
My main concerns are having to upgrade to Big Sur, since all my machine is on Catalina. I'm wondering how the general stability is for the above programs and general usage of plugins. I know the Radeon VII is a compute beast, but the current GPU prices make me want to sell. On the other hand, if Big Sur is buggy or not as smooth/stable with the above apps, I can live with Catalina for a long time, since production machines are usually one or two major operating systems behind.
I haven't mined with the card because I want to preserve its life for as long as possible since they are out of production. It's cooled very well with an AIO cpu cooler modded onto it + VRM heatsinks. I occasionally game but I value editing capability over increased FPS in games. Any advice? Thanks.
