Hi guys, I'm about to Install Opencore instead of Clover [ my current Catalina 10.5.2 Hackintosh ]. I saw some posts recommending updating Bios for Opencore. Is that relevant in my case with Opencore 0.7.4 [latest] or should I stick with previous Opencore versions? what about NVram and my Gigabyte Z390 Designare [rev1] ? Should I cleanup Clover nasty files before or after Installing Opencore ?
I prepared 2 Opencore USB drives, one with Catalina and other with BigSur. My EFI and SSDT are ready.
I'm currently dual booting Windows 10/ Clover Catalina 10.5.2. Here are my Specs :
- Mobo: Gigabyte Z390 Designare
- CPU: Core i9 9900k
- GPU: Red Devil RX 5700 XT 8G GDDR6
- RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB x2 = 32GB
- SSD: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 1TB M2 x2 [ one for Windows / one for Mac OS ]
- PSU:Cooler Master V750
- Monitor: MSI MAG322QVR 1440p 144hz curved
- Speakers: Logitech G560 lightsync gaming speakers
- Others: Corsair Essential Gaming Bundle [ keyboard/Mouse/Headset]
I'm currently on Bios F7 version but there is new F9j version that have the changes as below :
- Enable Resizable Base-Address Register (Resizable-BAR) option to enhance GPU performance.
- Update CPU microcode SA-00295 to solve potential security vulnerabilities in CPU, please refer to more information: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/security-center/advisory/intel-sa-00295.html
- Enhance RAID AIC compatibility
- Fix CPU Vcore and power behavior
If you have an EFI for same or similar specs as mine please share with me. Appreciate all the help. Thanks
