Need help in faking HiDPI on a 1080p display

So I have this 1080p integrated display in my laptop, and I was wondering if I could get results like this

This is how refined the edges look in 960x540 (hidpi).

Meanwhile, I see rough edges on the default display settings. I hope you can see it in the screenshot.

Is it possible to get that level of smoothness on a 1080p display without using 960x540 hidpi? If I use 960x540, the ui elements are twice as big - which is expected, I guess

I can guess its limited by the display, but if there is some workaround to those really awful rough edges, I'd be really grateful
