I followed the guide on updating to Catalina (directly from High Sierra since I saw people had been successful)..... but after a few restarts (using the boot install OS X from clover), it’s just been frozen half way on the boot up progress bar.
I followed the guide exactly and never really had any issues with the machine for years. Admittedly this is the first time I tried to update it. I updated clover and the very basic kexts just so I can use my Ethernet.
