After years of on/off fiddling with macos on my PC, I found OpenCore. What a breath of fresh air compared to the heap of manure that is Clover, let alone the *beast tools. Followed the dortania guide for Skylake and it worked from the first try. Here's what I'm running: CPU: Intel i5-6500 So nothing out of the ordinary, but that's most likely because my PC is very similar to a late 2015 iMac. Started out with Catalina. Upgrade to Big Sur via the app store went without issues. GeekBench scores are in line with other Windows and Apple computers. iCloud account syncs fine. Office365 and OneDrive work great. So, no complaints really. Well, there is one issue. The upgrade to Big Sur seems to have erased my Windows drive, so maybe that's worth investigating. The greeting macOS throws when logging on. The disk was readable with Catalina, so not sure if PEBCAK or Apple fscked up. [link] [comments] |
