I've been working remotely a lot more in the last year, and I'm getting the impression we'll be in this hybrid structure for some time to come. I think it's finally time that I upgrade from my 19" AccuSync LCD9V monitor that I've had for almost twenty years.
I started the day by going on Dell Outlet and buying a refurbished Dell S2719HN S Series Monitor 27" for $170 before a $100 Dell credit on my Amex Biz Platinum card and $17 in cash back from TopCashBack. That should be an out of pocket cost of ~$53.
Had I not purchased this, I would've probably used that $100 Dell credit to get a $110 XBOX gift card to use on the Microsoft Store someday with about a couple hundred in stockpiled credit (probably a Microsoft Surface or something, but time will tell, and that's a separate issue. Just wanted to make the alternative a factor in consideration of maximizing credits.).
Then, I remembered that I have $130 in Best Buy certificates that expire in May. I might be able to extend them, but I could also use them here. I can get 4% cash back if I order online.
I came across a few options on a search query here.
I thought this Samsung - AM500 Series 27" at $199 looked okay.
I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. Anything is going to be bigger than my current 19" monitor. I figured bigger was better, looking at 27" options over 24". My chair is about a foot away from my desk, so maybe that's too big at that range(?). I do mostly document/web-related work. On the side, I do some creative projects in Photoshop/Premiere/AE.
I work off of a laptop, but I also have a personal PC at my desk. I just bought this KVM switch to toggle between the two, so HDMI would be helpful.
I was aiming to limit out of pocket cost, but could be talked into higher price ranges with the right substantiated reasoning.
Is 4k important? Is FHD at 27" bad? Are there things I should look for as red flags?
