Hi!
As in the title I am after a machine that can run Soildworks, Solidworks Flow Simulation and game at a good standard.
Workload:
Soildworks: Assemblies with greater than 100 parts. Ideally would like to have more than one assembly open at once and not often come across the “Low Resources” notification. Soildworks used heavily daily.
Flow Simulation: I am relatively new to Flow Sim as I haven’t had access to the software before. However I will be using flow sim on a regular (weekly) basis and so this would good if the PC handle this.
Gaming: I currently have an Xbox One X but would like to be able to game with this PC also, I understand that CAD and gaming graphics cards differ but can you game well on a CAD card?... I am a novice in this regard.
Price: This is a company purchase and I would out their expected budget in the £3k-£5k mark.
Peripherals: I already own a 34” ultra wide which I love for workflow. Its the Massdrop Vast: 3440x1440 100Hz via DO with Freesync HDMI 2.0 x1 HDMI 1.4 x2
Also the MX keys and MX Master 3, great for CAD. So no great need for an all-in-one unless this is the best option.
The boss is very keen on Apple everything, I’m slightly adverse to the idea as I’ve never had a Mac before so would be starting from scratch. I’m very comfortable with Windows and can get around most problems myself. Also windows is best for gaming?
It will be predominantly a work PC but I would like to be able to game on it as well, but obviously work priorities have to come first.
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for is great. I’ve tried to look myself but with the different requirements for Soildworks, Flow Sim, gaming, Mac vs PC I’m a little lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks :)
