Best Intel/Thunderbolt motherboard for balance of power and reliability

CONTEXT: I've been running a Clover-based Hackintosh on the Gigabyte Z90 Designaire motherboard for almost 3 years. Overall, it works reliably enough to be my main production machine. The challenge is, I have been spectacularly unsuccessful in updating it. Not only can I not get it to finish an OS upgrade, if I try to even add more RAM it won't boot.

Because it I need to do real work on this computer daily, and because it seems wise at this point to move to OpenCore, I've decided to start clean with a new system.

So...here in 2021, is there a better ATX motherboard choice for a fairly beefy video workstation?
Why Intel? While I like the price/performance characteristics of AMD, because of Adobe compatibility I think it wise to stick to Intel.
Why Thunderbolt? I also have a MBP and various Thunderbolt peripherals.
