I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this but I figured I'd give it a shot. If its the wrong place, please just let me know and I will gladly remove my post and keep looking.
I am attempting to run MacOs Big Sur via VirtualBox on my PC. I had to go with this method because I have not been successful in installing MacOS natively on any of my laptops or PC's and believe me, I've tried just about every option out there, including opencore (which I am sure will run but despite following every guide I have found to the T, I still cant seem to get it to work). I want MacOs for iMovie and Final Cut as they are my preferred video editing applications. I opted instead to install Big Sur on my PC via VM.
Just for reference, the rig I am using has these specs:
- Core i5 4590
- Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A motherboard
- 16gb Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600mhz RAM
- Zotac GT-1030 GPU (I do have a GT-710 that I can swap in since I read MacOS will support it natively)
- 120gb Kingston A400 SSD
I can get the OS installed and booted just fine (I had to use 3 different tutorials and mix and match since none of them resulted in a successful boot alone) but, first and foremost, its extremely laggy. I have allocated 2 cores and 8GB of ram for the VM. Second, I cannot sign into my apple account. It gives me an error that my device isn't supported. If I cant sign in, I cant access the Apple store to download the apps I need. So, can anyone help me with this. If its just the nature of the virtual machine, then I'll have to give something else a try. If its my hardware, I can make changes as needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
