A better way of doing things

I used sanity checker and it tells me that there are better ways to fake device IDs than using FakePCIID.kext. I would be interested in knowing what they are.

I am using FakePCIID.kext along with FakePCIID_Intel_I225-V.kext to get my 2.5Gb ethernet port working. It wouldn't work using the method outlined in the Dortania guide, and I found a thread on MacRumours that pointed me in the direction of FakePCIID. It has worked flawlessly so far, but am now intrigued as to the other methods alluded to by the Sanity Checker website.

Has anyone had any experience with this to enlighten me?
