Not so long ago I posted a question about whether it's possible to generate Mac Pro 6,1 instead of iMac 15,1 SMBIOS and let me say it is. :) Long story short made a bootable flash with Big Sur 11.1 (following Technolli YT tutorial about Haswell) OC 0.6.4 where in editing the config file with ProperTree I mentioned MacPro6,1 instead of iMac from the Doritania's guide. Side note: also if you are using opencore gen x for kexts and drivers got to mention that as well Then after the installation I generated SMBIOS for MacPro6,1 and that's all. It works amazingly fast. Specs: CPU:Core i7 4790 @ 3.6GHz (4 cores / 8 threads) Motherboard: AsRock Z97 Anniversary RAM: 32GB DDR3 1333/1600 MHz with XMP 1.3 profile GPU: Asus Strix RX 470 8GB Audio: Cheapest USB dongle with Mic and Headphones ports Internet: OnBoard LanCard Intel based Couple of things to retouch: -Sleeping might not work for now. Just using infinity for power without sleep and 20 minutes screen saver. :D -My front USB ports 1xUSB 3.0, 1xUSB2.0 works only the 2.0 for charging my phone. And after 1-2 plugs phone starts to plug and unplug constantly every second. Not sure what's the problem. Need USB mapping I guess. Everything else is pretty much OK. Also I was with iMac15,1 and Catalina previously and now it is way way faster. I can't understand whether it's the OS -Big Sur or because it's recognized as Mac Pro (2013)...? Either way great stuff. :) [link] [comments] |
