Hello again r/hackintosh! After a long time, I finally installed Big Sur to my laptop! I want to thank anybody who helped me or sent a link to something to help me do this! My specs are: CPU: 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i3 Memory/RAM: 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics ICL RVP 2048 MB (Metal supported) Internal Storage: NVMe SSD 256 GB, ACHI, SATA WiFi: Intel Wifi Method: On a mac, make a normal macOS Install USB. After your USB is finished being created, get the OpenCore Configurator app and put it with the Install macOS [version] on your USB. Then, go to Olarila's website and grab an EFI folder matching your CPU (i.e. Icelake, Cometlake, etc.) And mount your EFI Partition on your drive with Opencore Configurator and put your EFI Folder onto the EFI partition of your USB. Boot from your USB drive, format your drive with APFS and GUID Partition Map, install as normal. When the progress bar is halfway through the install preparation, your machine will reboot. Choose Install macOS in Opencore. The installation process with finish up and you will be in macOS. If you have an unsupported WiFi card (Like me) get AirportItlwm.kext and AppleALC.kext for WiFi and audio. Add them to your EFI partition at /EFI/OC/Kexts/ and with ProperTree, open your config.plist on the EFI Partition and make a snapshot of the OC folder. Reboot your machine, let it sit on the OpenCore screen because a bunch of .efi files might show up for some reason, and macOS will boot automatically. WiFi and audio will now work. Finally, go to the App Store (make an apple ID if you don't have one) and download Brightness Slider. Congratulations, you have a working installation of macOS Big Sur! I am happy if you got this far, so give yourself a pat on the back! Things that don't work: Trackpad (on a laptop) Messages application as I know of. Once again, thank you people of r/hackintosh for trying to help me before! [link] [comments] |
